Lightroom is software focused on photography and has features for capturing, editing, sharing, and managing images. That’s why it is ideal for those who need to deal with a large number of files, all in a simple and intuitive interface.
It also stands out for its ability to automatically read imported photos and videos, quickly generating a data catalog with ISO, shutter speed, and aperture information.
Latest Version News
The Lightroom, available for desktop, iOS, Android, and iPad, has had new versions since June this year. It is now possible to share photos with other users and follow them in the desktop version. Another good news is the adjustment of the local Hue that allows you to easily recolor objects in a scene and make other subtle adjustments without changing the colors of other areas of the photograph.
Check out other new features:
- Edit the same photo multiple times and save versions without creating copies.
- Customize RAW import settings.
- Add text watermarks (desktop version).
- Upload photos to Photoshop from the iPad (and vice versa).
- Find compatible cameras and lenses for Lightroom.
Disadvantages
In no version of Lightroom, it is possible to edit in layers, and although it is easy to work, it doesn’t have a comprehensive list of commands.
Similarities And Differences
Both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom are part of the Creative Cloud and work with the same file formats – jpeg, tiff, png, and raw. Both offer many of the same tools, from the most basic to the most advanced.
But while Lightroom makes it possible to alter photos without modifying the original file, Photoshop has destructive editing; in other words, the alterations interfere with the original image. To avoid this, the edited image must be saved in an internal format – PSD, and then exported in a new format. In addition to being more work, more files will occupy your hard drive.
This does not happen in Lightroom, as all changes made are saved within the software itself, and only the exported file will have the modifications. Finally, the image rating feature is only present in Lightroom.
“But Now, Which Should I Choose?”
Lightroom and Photoshop are great and can be used together in bg remover, but it depends on what you do. The first is suitable for professionals who process many photographs, as the entire cycle can be done in the software, including organization and sharing.
On the other hand, Photoshop is efficient for those who don’t work with large amounts of files and need more profound and more diverse edits.
